BABY GEORGE (Room 105)

from $500.00

BABY GEORGE (Room 105)

George Harrison was born, the youngest of four, on 24th February 1943 to Louise and Harold Harrison. Bizarrely, George and his family mistakenly celebrated his birthday on 25th February for most of his life until it was discovered from official records in the 1990s that George had been born just before midnight on the 24th, not just after midnight on the 25th as had been believed.

George had siblings: brothers Peter and Harold, and sister Louise. Unlike John, Paul, and Ringo, he did not lose either of his parents at a young age. However, he did develop a rebellious streak and became a Teddy Boy at his secondary school, The Liverpool Institute in the city centre. George had to travel to and from the city centre every day, which usually took an hour, and it was on this daily bus journey that he met and befriended an elder boy from the same school, Paul McCartney.

George’s interest in music grew steadily during his teenage years. Inspired by American rock and roll artists like Chuck Berry and Elvis Presley, he taught himself to play the guitar, quickly developing impressive skill. This passion for music, combined with his friendship with Paul McCartney, laid the foundation for what would eventually become The Beatles, changing the landscape of popular music forever.
